I don't understand...

why Haiti happens? Why there is inequality in world? Why some have so much that they are throwing it away and others don't have enough to eat? I have tried to reason this 100 different ways and nothing makes sense. If this is the suchness of Universe, it is a very bitter pill to swallow. There are times when this Universe looks so perfect, it won't function if it was not perfect to this degree and then there are these times.

  1. Dear Myochi,

    Do you remember this:

"Now this, monks, is the noble truth of stress:1 Birth is stressful, aging is stressful, death is stressful; sorrow, lamentation, pain, distress, & despair are stressful; association with the unbeloved is stressful, separation from the loved is stressful, not getting what is wanted is stressful. In short, the five clinging-aggregates are stressful.

    And our task about it:

'This is the noble truth of stress'... 'This noble truth of stress is to be comprehended'... 'This noble truth of stress has been comprehended.'

Once comprehended and the other tasks performed the universe is not seen anymore in terms of perfection/imperfection.

"These times" is always: Haiti, Irak, Congo, Los Angeles... the house is on fire, samsara.

    Good practice, good realization

  2. Hi MyoChi... a book I read by Dr. Michael Newton, "Journeys of The Soul", gave me a light about this topic.

Yes, it is part of suchness of the Universe.

But as unembodied, unborn Soul, we have consciously picked a life. We have viewed all the great events and the shortcomings, and we chose; because as Soul, we are aware that in particular suchness that we might learn & evolve at best.

It's like picking a training or a class; painful or easy is not our concern, since it is what we are training what truly matters.

    Hope this helps :)

  3. Do Jhana@ Thanks. Yes, I do remember that. It "is" Universe's suchness that there is stress. I guess focusing on why it is like this does not help much. All we can do is to try to ease suffering. Every now and then I get lost in the why question and it takes me over.

Rizal@ Thanks. I am not very certain about concept of a soul and its choice. If we have a soul, then there is an entity that exists independent of conditions..is that what you mean when you say soul? I will look up the book.

  4. I am not certain how I should describe Soul since it's, anyway, a concept. A truth interpreted in this world of duality (thanks to Dr. Newton's experiment using particular hypnosis). But one thing is certain for me; things happen for reasons, and at certain level, we have chosen it for ourselves. We are no victim; we are The Master.
